The Finnish Society for Tribology
40th Anniversary Seminar
31.8.2017, Werstas, Tampere
Background
The group of Finnish pioneers in tribology founded the Finnish Society for Tribology 31st of August in 1977 to support the research, technical development and education of tribology in Finland. Even since, the society has improved the awareness and deployment of tribological knowledge in Finnish industry and society. The Finnish Society for Tribology publishes "TRIBOLOGIA - Finnish Journal of Tribology", which is a peer-reviewed open-access journal containing articles on the latest achievements in tribology. The society also organizes technical seminars and company visits, and strengthens international co-operation to foreign tribology societies.
Seminar
The 40th Anniversary Seminar on 31st of August 2017 celebrates the 40 years of the Finnish Society for Tribology with presentations from distinguished international and Finnish experts in different areas of tribology: Professor Roland Larsson from Luleå University of Technology, and Professor Thomas Norrby from Nynas AB, present new aspects of lubrication, and Principal Scientist PhD Guillermo E. Morales-Espejel from SKF Engineering & Research Centre focuses on the tribology of rolling bearings. The presentations on sliding bearings, modelling, fretting and tribocorrosion provide even wider perspective to important areas of engineering tribology. The seminar will start with an introduction to the history of tribology in Finland and end with the historical tour in the Steam Engine Museum.
